This project aims to position the organisation as a reliable source of verified information for other platforms and media outlets in the Spanish-speaking world. With this grant, Maldita.es will facilitate access to verified content for other media organisations, primarily local and regional ones.
“Our goal is to expand the reach and impact of verified content beyond our direct audiences,” explains Carlos Hernández-Echevarría, deputy director of Maldita.es. “Through outreach campaigns in collaboration with media outlets, impact-tracking software and continuous evaluation, we aim to strengthen citizens’ access to verified information and reinforce the presence of fact-checking in local media.”
What will Fundación Maldita.es do?
Maldita.es. will explore ways to increase the visibility of its content for different audiences beyond its own community, in collaboration with Spanish media outlets, especially local and regional ones.
Maldita.es. will rely on cutting-edge technology and innovative strategies to expand the visibility and impact of verified content, fostering a better-informed society and providing citizens with tools to navigate the information landscape more effectively.

Who funds this project?
The IFCN brings together the growing global community of fact-checkers in the fight against disinformation. The “Global Fact-Check Fund” grant programme aims to support initiatives that improve public engagement with fact-checking in local and regional spaces. The programme manages a 12 million dollar grant from Google and YouTube.
