Combining advanced technology, citizen participation, evidence-based journalism and advocacy to protect information integrity
Fundación Maldita.es exists to equip legislators, digital platforms, journalists, citizens, and educators with evidence-based tools, capabilities, and content to foster a more resilient and trustworthy media and information ecosystem. We do this through journalism, technology, education, research, and policy advocacy.
We monitor, identify, and assess threats that undermine information integrity and ecosystem security. To this end, the Foundation develops technological tools and generates actionable evidence so that the different stakeholders involved can make evidence based decisions.
We understand our work from a bottom-up approach: by listening to citizens' needs and answering them with data, facts, and evidence so they can make their own informed decisions.
Our results are backed by specialized teams, cutting-edge technological tools, and an extensive community of citizens who collaborate with us in strengthening information integrity.
We make public our methods, findings, and funding to build trust among our community and partners.
We operate without influence from political, commercial, or institutional interests. Our Code of Ethics, our methodologies and our nonpartisanship policies protect our work from our own biases as well.
We believe that only by engaging every actor involved in the information ecosystem we can protect information integrity.
Every conclusion, recommendation, and resource we share is grounded in rigorous research and verifiable data and facts.
