Fundación Maldita.es takes part, together with 14 organisations, in the creation of a digital platform with information about the European Union

Fundación Maldita.es is part of AskEurope, a European project led by Agence France-Presse, which aims to facilitate access for European Union citizens to rigorous, high-quality information about EU institutions and Member States. Media outlets such as Deutsche Welle (Germany) and Agenzia ANSA (Italy) are also taking part in the project, and are responsible for editorial production and the creation of news content, alongside technology companies in charge of developing the digital infrastructure. Artificial intelligence will play a key role, particularly in the automatic translation of content into the EU’s official languages and in presenting information in an accessible and intuitive way for users.

All organisations will work in a coordinated manner as a transnational editorial unit, addressing issues relevant at both EU and national level, always from a European perspective that strengthens integration and a shared sense of citizenship.

The project will run for two years, from March 2025 to February 2027, and each partner organisation will take on specific responsibilities, either in the editorial field or in technological development and support.

What will Fundación Maldita.es do?

Fundación Maldita.es will be responsible for producing explanatory content in different formats, incorporating multimedia elements that address, from a national perspective, key issues related to the European Union and the fight against disinformation.

In addition, it will lead the coordination of the project’s social media strategy, ensuring cohesive communication tailored to different European audiences.

Who funds this project and how much funding does it receive?

AskEurope is a project co-funded (95%) by the European Commission through the 2024 Work Programme for the financing of Multimedia Actions of the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. The amount contributed by this EU programme is €2,677,885, of which Fundación Maldita.es will receive €90,907.
