Maldita.es and Rey Juan Carlos University Launch the Master's in Investigative Journalism, New Narratives, Data, Fact-Checking, and Transparency

Against lies, journalism. Against the obscurantism of institutions, transparency. Against opinion, research, and data.

We’re not talking about the future; we talk about a present where, as a society and as journalists, we face new challenges: the fight against disinformation and the need for journalism that goes beyond the surface to investigate and tell the reality to the citizens with data.

From Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and the Maldita.es Foundation, we launch this Own Master’s Degree in investigative journalism, new narratives, data, fact-checking, and transparency with the goal of training professionals for this new present; a present in which we commit to journalism as a public service for the citizens. Data journalists, developers, and product managers from the most innovative digital media in Spain and Latin America, along with long-standing reporters and researchers, teach this own degree in which you will learn to find, investigate, verify, and visualize the great journalistic stories. This master’s is the union of the best investigative journalism and data in our country and the innovation and technology at the service of telling our reality. Remember, places are limited! You can request more information at mastermaldita.es

Moreover, we do it with media, agencies, and production companies of renowned prestige that represent the present of innovation in our country: elDiario.es, Servimedia, Prodigioso Volcán, Podimo, Datadista and The Facto.

The master’s is taught by doctors and active professionals: data journalists, developers, product managers, and long-standing investigative journalists teach this Own Master’s Degree in investigative journalism, new narratives, data, fact-checking, and transparency. Among them are Kiko Llaneras and Daniele Grasso (El País), Ana Tudela and Antonio Delgado (Datadista), Tomás Ocaña (The Facto), Laura Zommer (Chequeado), Helen Darbishire (Access Info Europe), Gervasio Sánchez, Alfonso Armada, Marco Schwartz; as well as professionals from Maldita.es like Clara Jiménez Cruz, Julio Montes, Nacho Calle, or Rocío Benavente.

The direction of the master’s and the rest of the teaching staff will be announced in the coming days. You can request more information and enroll at mastermaldita.es.
