Maldita.es takes part in the European consortium Hatedemics to develop technological and educational tools to combat hate speech and disinformation

Fundación Maldita.es takes part in the Hatedemics project, co-funded by the European Union, as part of a consortium of 12 organisations from Italy, Spain, Malta and Estonia. The project aims to strengthen preventive and reactive measures against online hate speech and disinformation, and to empower NGOs/CSOs, fact-checkers, public authorities and young people to effectively prevent and combat polarisation and the spread of racist, xenophobic and intolerant discourse.

Maldita.es takes part in the European consortium Hatedemics to develop technological and educational tools to combat hate speech and disinformation

The project will include the development and testing of the HATEDEMICS platform, an AI-based tool designed to help users improve their responses to hate speech and disinformation, bringing together the partners’ expertise in preventing and combating hate and disinformation. The platform will be accompanied by interactive training and educational pathways to teach users how to use the tool to counter online hate speech and disinformation.

What will Maldita.es do?

Maldita.es will coordinate the development and rollout of the pilot, training and educational activities to extend the platform to different target groups, including CSOs, educators and young people across all project countries, including Spain. Maldita.es will also contribute its expertise in fact-checking and disinformation to support the design and development of the Hatedemics platform.

How much funding will Maldita.es recieve to carry out the project?

Maldita.es will receive €99,477.90 to implement the project. The total project budget is €1,205,498.38.
