Fundación Maldita.es takes part in the MILD project to combat disinformation targeting migrants and racialised communities

Led by the Italian organisation Lunaria, MILD will provide training for journalists, journalism students and activists from social organisations in Italy, Malta, Greece and Spain. The aim is to enable them to identify, report and counter disinformation and discriminatory messages that appear in the media and on social networks when migration and racism are discussed, through accurate, fact- and data-based content.

To achieve this, the project will carry out an analysis in each country on how migrants and racialised people are represented in the media and will identify common disinformation narratives. This work will result in a guide of best practices to promote responsible and inclusive communication.

It will also take part in research on the Spanish media context around migration, collaborate in organising meetings in Spain with key actors from the media and social sectors, and support the dissemination in Spanish of the project’s tools, materials and learnings.
