Maldita.es and Oxfam Intermón install the Frena.Verifica.Comparte campaign on buses in 4 Spanish cities

The Frena.Verifica.Comparte campaign seeks to contribute to the fight against misinformation about migrants and provide citizens with information and tools to identify and stop hoaxes. These activities are part of the » Righting the Wrong project , supported by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program 2014-2020 of the European Union.

Maldita.es and Oxfam Intermón have installed the Frena.Verifica.Comparte campaign to fight against misinformation about migrants in external and internal advertising spaces on more than 49 buses in Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Zaragoza and Seville. 

The objective of this installation, which also has the support of the organizations Mundo en Movimient and the Association of Home and Care Workers of Zaragoza , is to encourage people to access the website frenanyverifica.maldita.es  to obtain tools that allow them to identify misinformation and hate speech towards migrants. 

In addition, all advertising includes a QR code so that citizens can use the Maldita.es WhatsApp Chatbot in case they suspect that some content may contain disinformation in which they will receive automated responses, a summary of the denials of the day and media literacy content. . 

With this campaign activity, which will be available between 15 days and a month depending on each city, it is expected to reach the more than 1 million people who use public transportation in those cities. 

The signage is installed on the following routes:

  • Madrid: bus lines C1, C2, 361, 263, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 14, 19, 23, 32, 24, 27, 27, 45, 49, 68, 69, 85 and 132 . 
  • Barcelona: bus line between Plaza de Catalunya and Airport, H12, D20, 27, 47, 54 and 59. 
  • Zaragoza: bus lines C1, 21 and 22. 
  • Seville: bus lines A1, A3, A4, A8, 1 C1, C3 5, 21, 22, 24, 27, 28, 29, 32 and 52. 

In the second week of September, street actions will also be carried out that will be announced on the social networks of the organizations that are part of the campaign.
