Anti-Bulera Youth camp of Maldita.es Foundation, with funding from the Erasmus+ program , brought together 58 young people between 13 and 17 years old interested in learning how to detect and deny the misinformation that circulates on the internet about gender, climate and migration.
During October, these youth received online training sessions to later travel to Navamorcuende, Toledo, from the Valencian Community, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalucía and Madrid. The main objective of the program was for young people to learn what the characteristics of misinformation and its consequences are, why hoaxes are spread and the keys to identifying them.
During a weekend, through games and innovative methodologies such as a gymkhana or a content creation laboratory, participants also developed a communication campaign on social networks to fight online misinformation and increase the reach and impact of the videos produced by them.
The program has had the collaboration of Cibercorresponsales, a project of the Childhood Platform that began in 2010 and promotes participation through a safe space where young people are speakers of their own reality. In the Cibercorrespondents blog network, one of the camp participants has told her experience : “It is a different way to learn and make many friends. The camp was 3 days, but those few days taught us a new world.” In this post , the young girl wrote about what she learned during the encounter.
