Why you’ll find Maldita.es on Google Discover

Google Discover is a Google service that shows you articles, videos, and ads on your phone based on what its automated systems think you might be interested in. You can find it both on your mobile device and in the Google browser.

This service indexes content from different websites that it considers to fall under the category of news media, but this indexing also includes low-quality websites and, on many occasions, disinformation and clickbait headlines that use ambiguity or exaggeration to attract clicks and mislead users.

While the existence of platforms that provide access to information is a positive thing, it is important to ensure that this information is accurate and not a channel through which more disinformation spreads. Google Discover is used by thousands of people who are not always aware of where the content recommended by the app comes from, who do not know how to personalize their experience to avoid the disinformation circulating on the platform, or who do not know how to turn it off (something we explain how to do in this Maldita Tecnología article).

For all these reasons, Maldita.es wants to be present on Google Discover and act as a tool against disinformation for users of this service. Follow us and help increase the chances that our articles and fact-checks reach more people and have a greater impact.
