Fundación Maldita.es has been recognized with the 2026 Internet Award in the Media category, within the Digital Transformation section, as part of World Internet Day 2026, an initiative that recognizes projects, organizations, and professionals contributing to the development of a more responsible, innovative, and inclusive digital society.
The award ceremony took place on May 18, 2026, at the Spanish Senate during the official World Internet Day event, held this year under the theme “Sustainability in the Digital Era”.
This year’s edition of the Internet Awards received 271 submissions, which gathered more than 52,000 online votes. The awards recognized outstanding initiatives and trajectories in areas such as digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital citizenship.
The Internet Awards are part of the activities organized around World Internet Day and are promoted by the World Internet Day Steering Committee, made up of civil society organizations, institutions, and entities from the digital ecosystem. Their aim is to recognize initiatives, individuals, and organizations that contribute to the development, understanding, and responsible use of the internet and digital technologies.
