Maldita Ciencia wins the Concha García Campoy Award for Scientific Journalism in the Digital Press category

The jury of the Concha García Campoy Award, presented by the Television Academy, decided to grant Maldita Ciencia the recognition for “its work in bringing science closer to society with depth and clarity through a fresh and innovative format, and for its fight against fake news.”

Maldita Ciencia wins the Concha García Campoy Award for Scientific Journalism in the Digital Press category

In this sixth edition of the awards, the jury was made up of journalist Lorenzo Díaz García-Campoy; María Casado, President of the Television Academy; Nemesio Rodríguez, President of FAPE; Luis del Olmo, Honorary President of the Radio Academy; María Blasco, Director of the CNIO; and Graziella Almendral, President of the National Association of Health Journalists (ANIS).

The winners in the other categories were:

Television: laSexta/Noche, for its commitment to scientific and health-related information in prime time and for becoming a reference point for understanding the concepts and evolution of the pandemic through the voices of experts.

Print Media: Jesús Méndez, for the rigour and journalistic quality of his report “Inmunoterapia: La revolución contra el cáncer” for National Geographic.

Radio: Sara Tabares, for the rigour and closeness to consumer concerns shown in the episode “Pseudociencia en el súper. ¿Qué productos nos venden más mentiras?” from the programme Ser Saludable on Radio Valencia (Cadena SER).

Lifetime Achievement: Juan Luis Arsuaga, for his outstanding professional career and his talent as a science communicator and disseminator.

Maldita Ciencia is the Maldita.es section dedicated to fighting disinformation and to scientific outreach on topics such as health, nutrition, physics, chemistry, astronomy and climate, among others, from an evidence-based and informed perspective.
