This partnership takes shape through the Network’s incorporation into Maldita.es’ Content Agency (ACM), a free tool promoted by the Foundation to support media outlets across the country.

With this initiative, Fundación Maldita.es reaffirms its commitment to local, rural, and community journalism, which is key to guaranteeing the right to information in areas where news resources are often more limited. Through ACM, journalists from the Network will be able to access articles, fact-checks, and debunks produced using Maldita.es’ methodology, ready for use and republication.

“Rural journalism plays an essential role as a guarantor of access to information in communities. This alliance aims to make it easier for professionals to access tools that strengthen their daily work, in a context that we know is a target of disinformation campaigns at the European level,” said Clara Jiménez Cruz, President of Fundación Maldita.es.

A content agency for those reporting from the ground

Maldita.es’ Content Agency is designed to facilitate access to verified information, especially useful for small newsrooms or those with limited resources. From articles on science and technology to debunks of viral hoaxes or scams, the platform offers content organized by topic and accompanied by visual resources ready for integration and adaptation to local media.

The Rural Journalists Network is an initiative of the Estrella Galicia Chair in Rural Development at Next Educación. It is the first Spanish network of its kind, promoted by Manuel Campo Vidal, President of Next Educación, and made up of journalists born in rural areas who, from the different media outlets they belong to, seek to give visibility to their towns so they can thrive with dignity and equality.

Joining forces against disinformation

This agreement will enable rural journalists to incorporate verified information into their reporting, enriching their work with reliable data and promoting a better-informed citizenry. In addition, the Network will be able to contribute its territorial knowledge to the detection of disinformative narratives circulating in their communities, thereby strengthening the collaborative dimension of the project.

The alliance between the Rural Journalists Network and Fundación Maldita.es represents an important step toward decentralizing access to fact-checking. In a context of growing circulation of disinformative narratives, joining forces and sharing resources is a key strategy to protect public debate and foster a better-informed society.

From Maldita.es, more media outlets and journalists are invited to register with the Agency and join a network of professionals committed to transparency and informational rigor.
