La Fundación Maldita.es takes part in the European Union, funded project Infoodmation - Optimising food information and communication for healthier and more sustainable dietary patterns, which seeks to analyse and understand the ecosystem of communication, information and disinformation about food within the European Union and how it affects consumer decision-making.

La Fundación Maldita.es takes part in Infoodmation to study disinformation about food in Europe and its effects on consumption

Led by the European Food Information Council (EUFIC), the project aims to promote informed consumption that encourages responsible, healthy and sustainable diets.

Over the course of three years, the project will apply theoretical models to understand and draw shared conclusions and recommendations on food communication, and will provide guidance to facilitate access to high-quality information about the food consumed by the public.

What will Fundación Maldita.es contribute?

As part of the project, Fundación Maldita.es will analyse the content collected by each partner in their respective countries that contains disinformation about food, identifying common narratives, extracting dissemination patterns in each country and analysing the potential effects of these narratives at national level. It will also produce a set of recommendations and guidelines for all actors involved in the food sector to improve information integrity and actively combat disinformation.

How much funding will Maldita.es receive to carry out the project?

Infoodmation is a project funded at 100% with €2,998,444.32 by the European Union’s HORIZON.2.6 – Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment programme. Fundación Maldita.es will receive €174,375.00 to carry out the assigned activities between early 2025 and the end of 2027.
