The Maldita.es Foundation, with financial support from Journalismfund Europe, is offering a free training program for journalists working in media outlets in Spain to combat climate disinformation.

Sign up for the Climate Disinformation Training Program

The Climate Disinformation Training Program consists of an in-person event to be held in Madrid on January 30 and 31, 2024, with all expenses covered.

Over the course of a day and a half, participating journalists will receive:

  • Knowledge, tools, and skills to detect and combat disinformation.

  • Networking opportunities with other participants and Maldita.es journalists.

During the program, a network of journalists will also be created and formalized, enabling participants to collaborate in identifying, debunking, and publishing articles that help fight climate disinformation.

Twenty journalists who meet the following requirements will be selected:

  • Be a journalist working in a media outlet (digital, print, television, or radio) not located in the city centers of Madrid or Barcelona.

  • Be available to travel to Madrid for two days.

  • Provide a letter of support from the media outlet where you work, confirming your attendance at the event and participation in a network of local journalists against climate disinformation.

  • Explain how climate disinformation affects your local area and how this program could support your professional work.

Process:

  • Complete the application form.

  • The deadline to submit applications is December 8, 2023.

  • The 20 selected journalists will be announced on January 10, 2024.

  • The event in Madrid will take place on January 30 and 31, 2024.
