Maldita.es has launched two channels, Maldita.es and Alerta Timo, which can now be followed in the app in the News section and in Channels by clicking on + and Search Channels
In Maldita.es we know that to fight against disinformation we have to be where information is shared and, above all, where disinformation moves. That is why we are launching a new channel, Maldita.es, in the new WhatsApp Channels feature, to share the denials of hoaxes and disinformation that reach the mobile phone, as well as the context and explanations to make informed decisions and not be fooled. Not only that, but in our special Timo Alert channel you will find everything you need to avoid falling for the scams that are circulating on the web.
In this way, Fundación Maldita.es adds a new tool to its strategy on this platform, where since 2020 it has a verification chatbot on WhatsApp (+34 644 229 319), the first in Spanish in the world to automatically verify hoaxes, which also offers an interactive course to learn how to detect disinformation.
You can find the quick way by clicking on these buttons: for Maldita.es channel 👇
But we tell you another way to get to our channels.
You can go to the WhatsApp application and click on the «What’s New» tab. And once there, under the statuses, you will see the option to «Search channels».
Remember that to access this service it is important to have your WhatsApp application updated to the latest version.
WhatsApp channels are unidirectional, that is, we can only receive messages published by the channel and react with emoticons to some publications. If you know Telegram, the operation will surely remind you of that platform.
The Maldita.es team does not want to bombard you with content: we will not share everything we do (which is a lot). In the Maldita.es and Alerta Timo channels, you will find everything from debunked hoaxes to tools to build your own dam against disinformation, including other explanatory topics so that you have all the context on the table. Curated content that takes into account criteria such as virality, timeliness or usefulness, at any given time and in any circumstance.
Maldita.es, where you can find denials of hoaxes and useful tips against disinformation that may reach your mobile phone.
Timo Alert, where you can receive alerts about scams, phishing and fraud attempts that are circulating via SMS, email or phone calls.
You will see that Maldita.es channels have a green tick next to them: this means that they have been verified by the platform and are authentic. Maldita.es is one of the channels selected and verified by being a verified member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). Follow us, we are waiting for you!
