Maldita.es collaborates with the Junta de Andalucía to fight disinformation through an early detection service

For one year, Maldita.es will provide an early detection service of disinformation affecting the Andalusian region to nearly 9 million Andalusian citizens, in collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía’s disinformation office.

These services will consist of monitoring potential disinformation affecting the autonomous community of Andalusia daily through social networks and other disinformation dissemination mediums, utilizing their team and technological developments.

In addition, Maldita.es will make its WhatsApp number (+34 644 22 93 19) available to the  citizens of Andalusia in order to identify disinformation circulating on this conversational app, thanks to user reports, which from today is the only way to locate them. The Junta de Andalucía will promote the use of this alert service among its citizens as much as possible.

In no case will this monitoring service necessarily entail the development of a debunking by Maldita.es. The selection of content to analyze and investigate will be made according to the methodology that governs the work of Maldito Bulo, endorsed by the International Fact-checking Network, to avoid amplifying disinformation that is not having an impact. This criterion responds to the methodology of Maldita.es, determined by the virality and/or danger of the content. The debunkings will be carried out according to the strict methodology developed by Maldita.es, in which process, in addition to the editor who performs the monitoring and investigation, 7 editors are involved, and which can be checked here. Only those that meet the previously described methodology will be debunked by Maldita.es.
