Maldita.es participates in the European Hatedemics consortium to create technological and educational tools to fight hate speech and disinformation

Maldita.es Foundation participates in the Hatedemics project, co-financed by the European Union, as part of a consortium of 12 organizations from Italy, Spain, Malta and Estonia. The objective of the project is to strengthen preventive and reactive measures against hate speech and disinformation online, and to train NGOs/CSOs, fact-checkers , public authorities and young people to effectively prevent and combat polarization, dissemination of racist, xenophobic and intolerant speeches.

The project will include the development and testing of the HATEDEMICS platform, an AI-based tool for users to improve their response to hate speech and misinformation, bringing together partners’ expertise in preventing and combating hate and misinformation. This platform will be accompanied by interactive training and education pathways to teach about the use of the tool to combat hate speech and disinformation online.

What will Maldita.es do ?

Maldita.es will coordinate the development and launch of the pilot, piloting, training and education to extend the platform to different target groups, including CSOs, educators and young people from all project countries, including Spain. Maldita.es will also contribute its knowledge in fact-checking and misinformation to contribute to the design and development of the Hatedemics platform.

How much will Maldita.es receive to carry out the project?

Maldita.es will receive €99,477.90 to execute the project. The total budget of the project is €1,205,498.38.
