This event, focused on strengthening the sustainability of media outlets to withstand the pressures and challenges of the sector, brought together mentors specialising in business models and innovation for the journalism industry, including Viktoria Munk (Denník N.), Tomas Bella (Denník N.), Ryan Powell (IPI), Daryna Shevchenko (The Kyiv Independent), Zakhar Protsiuk (The Kyiv Independent), Paula Miraglia (Gama Revista) y Mariia Leonova (Jnomics Media).
Three winners and a special jury prize
The Fundación Maldita.es team was awarded one of the three €5,000 prizes with a proposal for a technological suite for knowledge management and community engagement.
The other winning teams were The European Correspondent, with a proposal aimed at media outlets seeking syndicated content and access to a network of local freelance journalists, and World of Crime, with a proposal combining the sale of long-form content and specialised consultancy on criminal organisations.
In addition, Youth Vibes received a special mention from the jury for its citizen journalism proposal focused on young people and will have the opportunity to receive consultancy support from the International Press Institute (IPI) mentors to further develop its business model.
