Maldito Timo renews the support of ESET Spain to fight against online fraud

With this new support from ESET Spain, Maldito Timo will be able to continue and expand the work for another year with which, in addition to digital content, it will develop face-to-face courses to help older people identify scams and improve the service it provides to chatbot users. In its first year, Maldito Timo was able to identify more than 500 scams with the collaboration of citizens, publishing more than 454 related content to alert users about scams, phishing , false investments, ghost sellers and other types of fraud.

Maldito Timo, through the “scam mailbox” at  [email protected]  and the Maldita.es WhatsApp chatbot ( +34 644 229 319 ), receives queries about possible scams that users receive on their mobile phones, emails emails, calls and other channels. Most of the alerts received during the first year were resolved with articles and consultations, in addition to more than a dozen live broadcasts on the Maldita.es Twitch .

Maldito Timo will continue to alert citizens about the most used methods, trends and techniques with which privacy and digital security are violated. In addition to warning, efforts will continue to create educational content and resources with the aim of shielding the population from this type of case.

Raising awareness in the field of cybersecurity is one of the pillars of ESET, since in a digital society, cybereducation contributes to strengthening its protection in the online environment.
