Maldito Dato wins the Open Data awards of the Junta de Castilla y León

Maldito Dato has won the Open Data Awards of the Junta de Castilla y León in the category of data journalism. The Maldita.es section, specialized in data journalism, has won both the first and second prize in this category.

The first prize was for the publication «Elections 13-F in Castilla y León: there will be 186 polling stations less than in the autonomous elections of 2019» and the second, for «More than 2,500 mayors have not claimed anything from their city council in 2020 and another 1,000 have not declared their salary«.

In 2021, Maldito Dato already won the first prize in the category of data journalism in the V edition of these awards. The Junta de Castilla y León has decided the winners of the VI edition and has announced that the awards will be presented next January 2023.

Ideas category:

  • First prize: Choose your University (Castilla y León) by Maite Ugalde Enríquez and Miguel Balbi Klosinski.
  • Second prize: Bots to interact with open data – Conversational interfaces to facilitate access to public data (BODI) by Marcos Gómez Vázquez and Jordi Carbot Sagrera.

Educational resources category:

  • First prize: GeoChef by San José de León Marist School.

Products and services category:

  • First prize: Vocational Training Offering from Castilla y León, an attractive and accessible alternative with no-code tools by Laura Folgado Galache. 
  • Second prize: Enjoycyl – collection and exploitation of assistance and evaluation of cultural activities by José María Tristán Martín.
  • Third prize: Application of the p-median problem to Primary Care in Castilla y León by Carlos Montero Pascual and Ernesto Ramos Pérez.
