The Maldita.es Foundation to collaborate with Plena Inclusión to adapt articles for easy reading for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities

The Maldita.es Foundation has signed an agreement with Plena Inclusión España to adapt its articles for easy reading for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through a weekly publication on the Planeta Fácil website, the Plena Inclusión team will select articles from Maldita.es and adapt them for easy reading, a method of creating and adapting content for people with comprehension difficulties. The news articles adapted for easy reading will also be accessible from Maldita.es via a link at the end of each article.

With the easy reading method, Maldita.es and Plena Inclusión aim to facilitate content for people with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism, older adults with cognitive impairment, among others. With this agreement, both organizations seek to guarantee the right to cognitive accessibility that could benefit up to 270,000 people with intellectual disabilities in Spain.

Each article from Maldita.es, adapted by Plena Inclusión and published on the Planeta Fácil website, includes the easy reading of the journalistic notes along with a descriptive audio of the same, a tool that facilitates its content and that, additionally, can help about 500,000 people with mental health problems, and more than 8.5 million older people.

Plena inclusión brings together 940 entities fighting for the rights of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism) and their families. It is now possible to read some of the first published information such as «What will be discussed this year at the climate meeting in Glasgow?» or «90 years of women’s suffrage in Spain«.
