Maldita.es Foundation launches the Local Journalists Network against climate disinformation

Maldita.es Foundation convened 20 journalists from local media to participate in the 2-day Training program for  journalists against disinformation.

This initiative, supported by Journalismfund Europe, aims to increase journalists’ knowledge about climate and environmental disinformation and the launch of the network, which will improve the identification of potential hoaxes and increase the reach of the content they produce.

In this first stage, journalists from Aragon, the Valencian Community, Galicia, the Region of Murcia, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Catalonia, Asturias, and the Canary Islands participated in a training that provided them with knowledge and practical tools to counter climate disinformation narratives from their respective media outlets.

These sessions facilitated the exchange of experiences among professionals and promoted the creation of a national collaborative network, with the purpose of identifying and addressing climate disinformation in their journalistic work.

With the participation of media outlets such as Huelva Television, Cadena SER Albacete, Canal Sur, Diario Información, Canal Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha Media, and RTPA, among others, this network is being established as an initiative aimed at supporting local journalists in Spain in their fight against climate disinformation, thus facilitating citizens’ access to reliable information based on solid evidence.
