Maldita Tecnología wins the V ESET Journalism and Information Security Disclosure Award for a program on its Twitch

Maldita Tecnología has won the V ESET Prize for Journalism and Information Security Dissemination in the ‘Social Media’ category for the broadcast of a program on cybersecurity and digital literacy on the Maldita.es Twitch channel .

The technological broadcast on Twitch «Maldita Cibersecurity: from SEPE to sex toys», one of the first broadcasts we made from Maldita Tecnología on Twitch, has received the first prize in this category for its «innovative format». From ESET they have congratulated the work of Maldita Tecnología and praised that it is carried out through a platform like Twitch.

Every Wednesday, we discuss different topics related to digital life and technology in a live program accompanied by specialists in various fields: artificial intelligence, computer security, digital education, personal data, etc. The community participates alongside us and these specialists: all the people who follow us on Twitch and who in each broadcast contribute comments and questions that we answer with the help of the experts. This connection between the audience and experts in their field allows us to create a space in which dissemination becomes easier and closer .

In the ‘Social Media’ category, colleagues Borja Galisteo have been finalists , for their work on YouTube titled «How bank accounts are stolen – What is SIM Swapping?» and Martín Vigo and Alexis Porros for the Tierra de Hackers episode «Pegasus, Candiru, contact book, shimmers, MAID and BEC».

Furthermore, in this edition they have awarded awards in other categories, specifically in ‘Audiovisual’, ‘Written Press’ and ‘Blogs’. They are the following:

• Audiovisual: the winners were Pablo G. Sampedro and Christian Calcerrada , for the news » Cybersecurity at your fingertips « broadcast on LaSexta and the finalists are Raquel Pérez , from Televisión Canaria , with the report «Cryptocurrencies: safe money?» ” and Pablo San Emeterio , Eduardo Castillo and Mónica Valle for their program “Lecciones de un cyberataque ” on Capital Radio ‘s Cyberafterwork program.

• Written press: the first prize went to Antonio Lorenzo , for his article published in El Economista entitled “How a cyberattack works from infection to payment ” . The finalists in this case have been Ana Adeva and Jose Manuel Vera for their report published in SIC magazine entitled “Csirts: At the foot of the canyon ” and Rodrigo Terrasa for his article published in El Mundo : “The internet black market: We have opened the doors and windows of the house to hackers ”

• Blog: the winner was Vicente Motos , for his article published in Hackplayers , entitled “ How to get started in cybersecurity ” , while the finalists were David Bollero for his article published in the Público blog titled “Pegasus: for the cyberespionage scandal in «Russia is not news… or it is « and Alberto Fonte , for his article published on the Derecho en la Red blog titled » Social engineering: what it is and how to protect ourselves«.

The ESET Computer Security Journalism and Dissemination Awards focus every year on «education and raising awareness of society on cybersecurity». The jury evaluates the quality of «the social relevance of the topic developed, the originality of the research, the treatment of information, the narrative quality and the correct use of technical terminology».
