Maldita.es now available on Squid: Here's how this custom news app works

We’re taking another step at the Maldita.es Foundation to fight disinformation by reaching an agreement with the SquidApp news application so that you can also read our articles and verifications on that platform.

SquidApp is a personalized news service by categories available in more than 60 European and Latin American countries, primarily aimed at a young audience. The most notable feature of this app is its customization options: the user has more than 100 categories to design their news ‘timeline’ and choose the topics they prefer to read about. Squid is also an official news provider for Huawei phones, appearing not only in its browser but also in its widget and Petal Search .

You can choose from the most prominent news to information about your city or province, including sports, health, science, technology, food, lifestyle, politics, psychology, and many others.

How Squid works

It is a completely free application and does not require registration to use it. To install it, just go to the Play Store if your phone is Android or the App Store if you have an iPhone and download it.

Once installed on your device, open it and select the categories you prefer. This way, a personalized cover to your liking will be created, where you can read the verifications from Maldita.es and our articles on science, technology, data, food, and explainers.

At Maldita.es, we always say that one of the best ways to fight disinformation is to share verified information and data. SquidApp offers the possibility to do just that: the app allows you to share the articles you find most interesting directly with your friends, family, or contacts through WhatsApp, Telegram, and other social networks. Because together, it’s much harder for them to deceive us.
