Ten participating media teams from all over Europe met between May 19 and 21, 2024 in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) as part of the Media Blend Hackathon 2024 organized by the International Press Institute (IPI) .
This event, focused on promoting the sustainability of the media to survive the pressures and challenges of the sector , had the participation of mentors specialized in business models and innovation for the journalism industry such as Viktoria Munk (Denník N.) , Tomas Bella (Denník N.) , Ryan Powell (IPI) , Daryna Shevchenko (The Kyiv Independent) , Zakhar Protsiuk (The Kyiv Independent) , Paula Miraglia (Gama Revista) and Mariia Leonova (Jnomics Media) .
Maldita.es Foundation team won one of the three prizes of 5,000 euros with the proposal of a technological suite for knowledge management and community participation .
The other winning teams were The European Correspondent , with a proposal aimed at media that want to obtain syndicated content and contacts from their network of local freelance journalists , and World of Crime , with a proposal that combines the sale of long-form content and specialized consulting. in criminal organizations .
In addition, Youth Vibes obtained a special mention from the jury for its citizen journalism proposal focused on young people and will have the opportunity to receive consulting from the team of mentors of the International Press Institute (IPI) for the development of its business model.
