How does the Maldita.es application work?

By means of a push notification, the application will also inform you if the website you are visiting is regularly misinformative, if it is a satirical website or if the content you are accessing has already been debunked.

With the Maldita.es app, you can also search for already debunked hoaxes through the integrated search engine and upload images from WhatsApp to check if they have been debunked by Maldito Bulo. Additionally, if you do not find the debunking you are looking for but suspect the content is dubious, you can also send links and images for verification. Thus, the Maldita.es app, along with the Whatsapp channel and the Buloteca, joins the various ways you have to alert and help the Maldito Bulo team debunk potential disinformation.

Don’t be fooled, not even by politicians

In the Maldita.es app, you can also check whether politicians’ statements are false, misleading or true with nuances, thanks to the work of Maldito Dato, which follows all politicians’ interventions in the media and checks the data used by candidates in their statements to make sure they are correct.

You can also sign up for different alerts, such as our daily summary or, during this campaign and the European elections, the Disinformation in the campaign alerts, a daily summary of the denials and checks we make on politicians’ statements, so you don’t miss anything!

We started building it on Android because we, who are very data-driven, know that 87% of the population in Spain uses Android, compared to 12% on iOS (according to the Ditrendia report: Mobile in Spain and the World 2018). So, for now, you can try it on your Android devices. If you have an Android phone or tablet, you can find the app in the Play Store and download it to try it out.
