Clara Jiménez Cruz, co-founder of Maldita.es, APM Award for Young Journalist of the Year

Every year, the Madrid Press Association awards recognition to the work of the journalist under 30 years of age who has distinguished himself the most during the last year and in 2019 Clara Jiménez Cruz was selected. The jury, made up of members of the APM Board of Directors, recognizes her work in building a newsroom and carrying out an innovative project, creating a company and generating employment for journalists.

The Young Journalist of the Year 2020 award has also been announced, which has recognized Jaime Santirso , El País correspondent in China and Asia and collaborator of SER; to the journalists of the year 2019 and 2020 who are Carlos Franganillo and Carlos Alsina , respectively; to the journalists specialized in Madrid Fernando Peinado, Laura Galaup, Elena Jiménez and Manuel Rico; and the APM Honor Award that this year goes to Francisco Giménez Alemán. 

The Young Journalist of the Year Award  has gone in previous years  to professionals such as Cristina Villanueva, Cristina Ónega, Daniel Campos and Mar Cabra. 

The 2019 and 2020 APM Journalism Awards will be awarded jointly in a  single award ceremony  that will coincide with the  festivities of the patron saint of journalists , Saint Francis de Sales, in January 2021, and will take place in the Gardens of Cecilio Rodríguez, in Madrid’s Retiro Park.
