Celebrate Education Day with media literacy tools

World Education Day ,  celebrated on January 24, seems like a great opportunity to remind us that education is a human right that plays a fundamental role in the peace and development of people and society.

Education is one of the pillars of  Maldita.es : we want to contribute our grain of sand through  Maldita Educa , our project to help citizens learn to defend themselves against misinformation . To do this, we develop courses, workshops and materials to help you distinguish between what is true and what is a lie.

Tools so you don’t miss out: download them, use them, share them

We want to share with you some tools that we at  Maldita Educa  use to help you avoid getting caught: for yourself or so that you can share them with whoever you think needs them, like our manual so you don’t get caught . Always have it on hand!

In our daily lives we use a lot of tools that help us discover lies, and in our Verification Toolbox we compile them all so that anyone can become an expert in verification.

We have also created a game to learn in a fun way how to discover lies: download the Maldita.es comecocos , print it, assemble it and play!

On Instagram we also teach you tricks every week to learn how to verify, so if you are an Instagrammer on the @malditobulo account   you will find a lot of Stories compiled with these tricks .

Against scientific hoaxes,  I, Doctor comics  are the best vaccine . We have compiled them so you can print your favorites and share them, give them away…  Download them here!

If live learning is more your thing, stop by one of the workshops we have coming up in  CórdobaMurcia  or Barcelona , where we will spend a whole week giving 30 workshops in the 10 districts of the city during Mobile Week. At  educa.maldita.es  you will find all the information about each of them. You can also ask us through  [email protected] !

Are you a secondary or higher education teacher? We need your superpowers!

We know a lot about verification, hoaxes and lies but much less than teachers about how to teach how to combat them. Many teachers have approached us because in their daily lives they see how misinformation is present in the classrooms but they do not have tools to teach how to combat it. So we thought: let’s put our superpowers together?

We have a lot of content to create materials and we know what content goes viral and how to dismantle it, but now we need the help of teachers to get it right in what we are going to do.  On Friday, February 21 (from 5 to 8 p.m.) we have set up a group dynamic in Madrid to which all teachers who want to attend are invited : we will explain the Maldita Educa project  , we will ask the teachers’ needs and we will exchange ideas to be able to offer the most practical materials.

If you are a teacher, reserve that afternoon: we will send the specific details of the call later. If you are interested in receiving them, sign up here to receive the  Maldita Educa newsletter  for teachers .

We are reaching more and more places, but there is still a long way to go because fighting misinformation is an arduous task and only together we can do it.
