The jury for this year’s awards was made up of:
- Pilar Perla Mateo, coordinator of the Tercer Milenio supplement of Heraldo de Aragón and of the Jornadas de Divulgación Innovadora D+i.
- Lucas Sánchez Sampedro, director of Scienseed.
- Laura Chaparro Domínguez, science journalist.
- Susana Ladra González, professor at the University of A Coruña (UDC).
- Joana Cristina Silva Magalhaes, researcher at INIBIC and science communicator.
- David Ballesteros Álvarez, science communicator and creative lead at Ceo Aberto SL.
- Marcos Pérez Maldonado, Head of Service of the Museos Científicos Coruñeses.
This award, which has been presented since 1988, has recognised the journalistic work of prestigious science publications such as Agencia Sinc, Muy Interesante and Materia. Last year, the award for Best New Media was given to GCiencia.
This year, prizes were also awarded in the following categories:
- Video: «Des-Extinción», broadcast on TVE, written and directed by Alfonso Par for Turkana Films.
- Unpublished text: «Expedición al volcán de sal», by Silbia López de Lacalle.
- Published book: «Ciencia sin ficción», by Jesús Méndez, Pere Estupinyá, Javier Salas, Sergio C. Fanjul and Belén Gopegui, published by Debate.
- Honourable mention: «Orgas(mitos)», by Laura Morán Fernández, published by Next Door Publisher.
- Journalistic article: «La vida secreta de los árboles», by Laura González de Rivera, published in Muy Interesante.
- Radio: «La maravillosa química de las cosas cotidianas», by Antonio Rivera, broadcast on A ciencia cierta, on CV Radio.
- Special project: «PDICiencia», by Diego Ortega Alonso and the Asociación de Familiares y Amigos de Personas con Discapacidad Intelectual.
- Honourable mention: «Estrela Rosalía», by the Agrupación Astronómica Coruñesa Ío
- Prisma Special Jury Award: Francisco Javier Novelle Secades, for promoting scientific culture through a civic association.
As part of this award, Maldita Ciencia will receive a bronze statuette and a €4,000 prize to support the work it already carries out.
Maldita Ciencia is a Maldita.es project aimed at combating disinformation and spreading scientific information on health, nutrition, physics, chemistry, astronomy and climate, using a clear and distinctive approach.
