At the Maldita.es Foundation, we know from experience that each person has the ability to stop the chain of transmission of hoaxes. Only through education and digital tools can users identify disinformation and act to prevent its spread. In this effort, collaboration with platforms such as TikTok, which connects a community of more than one billion people worldwide, is essential.
The Maldita.es Foundation and TikTok maintain their commitment to promoting critical thinking and digital education, and are once again collaborating on the development of educational content that raises public awareness against hoaxes and false narratives, as we did during the general elections on 23 July.
What does our collaboration involve?
TikTok is making available to its community an Information Hub with advice from the Maldita.es Foundation on disinformation. Through basic questions we can all ask ourselves, such as where does the content of that TikTok come from? Does it make you feel fear, anger or sadness? How long has the video been circulating? We can all analyse suspicious content and, above all, choose not to share it if we suspect it is not real.
In addition, the Maldita.es Foundation has produced three specific videos, following trends on the platform, with examples to detect a potential hoax, identify whether an image has been generated using artificial intelligence, and tips on how to talk to someone who promotes disinformation without creating conflict.

How can you find the Information Hub?
According to TikTok, user safety is its top priority. The platform wants everyone to feel confident that they can access reliable information, discover original content and interact with authentic people, as this is essential to building a community based on trust and responsibility, both on TikTok and beyond the platform.
In this context, having information and tools that help the community understand how to identify authentic content is key. Users who access this link or search within the platform for terms such as disinformation, misinformation or fake content (among others associated with disinformation) will be redirected to this information space.
In a global community, it is normal for there to be different opinions and points of view. TikTok welcomes global diversity, operating on a shared foundation of facts and real data. The platform works with global partners to verify the information available on the platform, as well as providing tools that inform users when they attempt to share content containing unverified information.
This collaboration between TikTok and the Maldita.es Foundation represents another step forward in this effort, with the aim of contributing to the creation of a safe and responsible digital society in Spain.
