About Fundación Maldita.es
Fundación Maldita.es is a non-profit foundation based in Spain that protects information integrity and fosters public trust through journalism, education, technology, research and public policy advocacy.

What we are looking for
We are looking for a Developer with a solid technical background and a drive to apply technology to the common good. This role will be key to the development, maintenance and evolution of the technology tools that support the journalistic and analytical work of Maldita.es, both internal tools and those shared with international partners.

We don’t expect you to meet every requirement from day one.
We especially value a solid technical foundation, the ability to learn, and motivation for the social impact of the project.

What you will work on
In the Engineering team at Fundación Maldita.es, we work at the intersection of journalism, technology and society, constantly innovating to build tools that help us fight disinformation and strengthen the information ecosystem.

We operate in a changing environment: challenges evolve quickly, and so do we. That’s why we are looking for someone who enjoys experimenting, learning and building solutions with real impact.

Your work will cover, among others, these main areas:

Implementation and evolution of the DMS (Disinformation Management System):
You will take part in the development and maintenance of our core system, an in-house CMS that allows us both to manage journalistic production and to administer our database of potential disinformation. This system not only powers the internal work of Maldita.es, but is already used by more than 20 organizations in different countries, making it a technological benchmark for fact-checking teams worldwide.

Development and maintenance of conversational chatbots:
You will build and optimize intelligent assistants that facilitate communication between journalists, fact-checkers and their communities. These chatbots are integrated into multiple platforms and allow citizens to submit potential hoaxes, receive verified information and take an active part in the fight against disinformation.

Innovation projects and cross-team support:
The Engineering team also collaborates on special projects across the Foundation, designing tools or prototypes tailored to the specific needs of education, communication or research initiatives.

You will also be part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, UI/UX designers, journalists and documentalists. Together, you will design, develop and maintain digital tools that improve the analysis, response and communication capabilities of Maldita.es and its international partners.
